Our mission at Christ the King is to be a vibrant faith community that proclaims the good news of Jesus Christ through worship, education, service and fellowship.

Christ The King Catholic Church

For many years, Madisonville was billed as the largest town in the United States without a Catholic church. That changed in the late 1960's when Christ the King Catholic Church was dedicated by Bishop Henry J Soenneker on June 15, 1968. The church sits on land donated by Mr. & Mrs.Albert Whittington and was constructed in a contemporary design with pews facing the altar on three sides. Fr. Gerald Glahn was the first pastor and the community had 125 families. The church building underwent renovations in 2006 with flowing water added to the baptismal font. tile flooring thoughout, stained glass windows, devotional niches and a choir area. South of th church is a full-sized replica of the Pieta and a rosary walk. On the hill, at the far end of the campus are outdoor Stations of the Cross leading up to our outdoor altar and three large crosses.

In addition to the church building, the campus now includes a rectory, Christ the King catholic School, Christ the King Learning and growth Center and the parish hall, which includes a gym, cafeteria, conference room, and the parish offices.  Behind the school is a pavilion, named for former pastor, Fr. Jerry Calhoun, and barbecue pits, which are the center of attraction for the annual parish picnic.

Christ the King has been abundantly blessed since its inception with over 300 families, thriving ministries and community outreach.  The traditional spirit of hospitality and devotion to Christ and His Body continues today in all that we do at Christ the King Catholic Church.
